Dr. Rodney Perkins – founder of the California Ear Institute at Stanford University – founded American ReSound in 1943. The company grew on its own until 1996 when it partnered with the Danish giant The GN Group. The GN Group began as The Great Northern Telegraph Company in 1869 and dominated the European market.
Through this partnership, the first software-based digital hearing aids were developed. The GN Group purchased ReSound in 1999 and became GN ReSound. As such, the company is part of GN Store Nord. Headquartered in Ballerup Denmark, ReSound has a presence in more than 80 countries worldwide.
In addition to the software-based digital innovation of 1996, ReSound is also known as the company that developed the first 2.4 GHz technology allowing for direct connectivity. This feature was developed for Apple hearing aids to provide better sound quality and direct stereo sound streaming.
ReSound offers many of the same high-tech features that are becoming common among hearing aids today. As technology continues to speed ahead it only makes sense that the industry of audiology should join that rapid progression. After all, hearing is one of the major five senses that help us understand and relate to the world we live in. It is an essential function.
Among the more interesting features offered by ReSound is the iSolate Nanotech coating. This protective coating is made up of a nanoscale polymer mixture that forms a guard against perspiration, moisture, and humidity. ReSound coats every element of their hearing aids – both internal and external – with a thin coating of this that bonds with hearing aid material at a molecular level.
Another fascinating feature of ReSound hearing aids is their remote microphone. This is designed to mimic the function of the pinna – also known as the auricle – allowing for ease maintaining directional clues. The pinna is the outer part of the ear. Its purpose is to gather sound energy and focusing it on the eardrum. The remote microphone is engineered to utilize the natural shape of the ear to improve hearing through increased directional location, reduction of wind noise, and localization of sound.
In addition, the three main hearing aid offerings from ReSound offer several helpful features. These models include the ReSound LiNX Quattro, ReSound LiNX 3D, and ReSound ENZO 3D.
The technology in these hearing aid devices makes it easier for wearers to pick up on sound and speech from any direction. This enables wearers to follow conversations while still being able to hear the sounds around them. This provides a balanced and natural hearing experience.
Exceptional speed and memory capacity add to the features of this device. This allows the hearing aids to perform at a higher level while using less power than other brands.
A rechargeable battery that fully charges in under three hours rounds out the features of this device. A full charge provides 30 hours of battery life for the hearing aids unless streaming music or television more than half of the time. Then the battery should still last 24 hours or so. A charging case comes with the rechargeable battery and is designed to be discreet, intuitive, and easy to use while slipping easily into most pockets or purses.
Touted as ReSound’s most advanced and recent digital hearing aid, the ReSound LiNX 3D allows users to hear more sounds and hear them clearly. These hearing aids can also be used as wireless headphones with Surround Sound by ReSound.
ReSound uses Spatial Sense technology in the ReSound LiNX 3D to create a clear natural sense of the sounds around you; allowing you to focus on what you want without sacrificing the sounds of your surroundings. By emulating the natural performance of the ear, our sound processing makes sound richer, clearer, and more vibrant.
Stream calls directly to this hearing aid. The ReSound LiNX 3D makes using FaceTime, Skype, and even talking on the phone easier and clearer. Stream movies, music, and more directly from your smartphone – both iOS and Android – to your hearing aid.
These devices come in a wide range of colors and styles. Furthermore, each one is treated with ReSound’s iSolate nanotech to last for years.
For severe hearing loss, the ReSound ENZO 3D provides crisp unmistakable sound quality. Including in the features of this hearing aid device are:
