Karen Selby, RN, is a Board Certified Patient Advocate and Registered Nurse at The Mesothelioma Center at Asbestos.com. With more than three decades of experience in health care, she brings specialized expertise in oncology, thoracic surgery, and patient advocacy.

Karen began her nursing career in 1991, working in the operating room at the University of Maryland, where she assisted with complex thoracic procedures, including lung resections, lung transplants, pleurectomies, and other lung cancer surgeries.

Before joining The Mesothelioma Center in 2009, Karen served as the regional director of a tissue bank and managed tissue procurement programs for organ and tissue donors. Today, she helps mesothelioma patients and their families understand treatment options, connect with leading specialists, navigate clinical trials, and access critical support resources. Her approach combines clinical expertise with compassionate patient-centered guidance, making her a trusted resource for individuals facing asbestos-related diseases.

Karen earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama and her Master of Business Administration from the University of Central Florida. She is also a member of the Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators.
