Many senior care organization say that they provide "senior living" but the do not specify the level of care (independent living, assisted living, senior apartments) and so it is hard for seniors and caregivers to know if their service is even appropriate without calling to ask. This can waste a lot of time and caregivers often need solutions immediately. We have tried t make it clear which types of care each facility or service provides.

This list is also useful because it seems that the public domain information (primarily government) data is not that accurate. It has turned out to be a great improvement in our data quality to cross index the public domain information with information directly from the corporations.

In general, larger corporate operate senior living facilities with a greater variety of amenities. Many large senior care facilities have full-time activities directors that organize activities for every day of the week. In the case of some independent living faculties, life is like a living on a cruise ship with a huge staff of personnel that to make your life better than it ever was in the family home. After I my wife and I visited a local in depending living facility, we couldn't wait to retire and move in. They may also have a huge staff so that a senior may have up to 10 different caregivers. Larger organizations also allow for a greater community for seniors who love to socialize.

On the other hand, smaller senior living organizations often have more personalized care. Instead of calling down to the front desk to get a ride to the doctor, you just ask your caregiver at the breakfast table to help you.The choice between large or small organizations depends on the region and individual needs or each senior. More rural area may not even offer a large corporate senior care option. Once a senior requires serious skilled care like dementia care, larger organizations can be a better option due to the extreme oversight requirements.
