Reviews, Ratings & Complaints

As would be expected from a company offering care on so many different levels at more than a dozen communities, Pristine Senior Living and Post-Acute Care has received both positive and negative reviews. Medicare's five-star system shows a wide spectrum of overall reviews. On measures of staffing and health inspections, the company does quite poorly. Over two-thirds of communities received a health inspection rating of below average to much below average due to complaints and health violations. Medicare's review system also show that registered nurses and certified nurse assistants spend below average time with residents. At some communities, when compared with Ohio's state average, Pristine's nurses and their assistants spent only half as much time with residents. On the other hand, most communities fair better on the quality of resident care measure, which looks at a number of factors, such as whether residents are getting the preventative care they need, whether health is improving at an expected rate, and whether residents are losing weight, are in pain or have untreated bedsores. This last measure suggests that despite the health violations and poor staffing ratios, most residents still receive adequate levels of health care.

Since Pristine Senior Living and Post-Acute Care has taken over the management of existing senior communities, residents and their loved ones have been been able to compare and contrast the communities before and after acquisitions. These reviews show that many people feel the company has made much-needed improvements, employs great nurses and has boosted the quality of life at these communities. Negative reviews tend to center on complaints regarding shortage of staff and neglected grounds.

It is important to remember that the overall management, care and quality of life will differ depending on each individual communities. Our unique database of reviews, ratings and complaints will help provide you with a clearer understanding of what real residents and their families think of Pristine Senior Living and Post-Acute Care.

Cost & Pricing

With Pristine Senior Living and Post-Acute Care providing so many levels of care, it is no surprise that there are a range of costs at its communities. Additionally, some communities are located nearer the water or in bustling, major cities, which also affects pricing. Generally, costs are charged on a daily basis as opposed to monthly. These daily costs usually cover three daily meals plus a snack, as well as amenities including cable TV, internet, on-site beauty and barber shops, on-site religious services, gathering areas for visitors, and on-site and off-site activities. For some residents, costs also include visits from a number of health professionals, such as dentists, optometrists, audiologists, podiatrists, dietitians, counselors, psychiatrists and social workers. Pharmaceutical services may also be included in the daily costs.

On average, private rooms cost $185 to $210 per day or about $5,500 to $6,300 monthly. Semi-private rooms have an average daily cost of $175 to $200 or approximately $5,250 to $6,00 monthly. These prices are in line with similar senior communities in the area; Ohio's state average costs range from $6,388 to $7,300.

To help residents cover these costs, Pristine Senior Living and Post-Acute Care accepts long-term care insurance, Medicare, and for lower-income residents, Medicaid. For seniors paying with private funds, fees are collected one month in advance of residency.
