New Perspective Senior Living Review

New Perspective Senior Living has over 30 communities to serve the retirement population in the Midwest region of the United States. The organization offers a choice of independent living, assisted living and memory care communities to meet the differing needs of its more than 2,000 residents. Setting New Perspective Senior Living apart from some of its competitors, the company offers two tiers of memory care communities. Memory Care is for residents with advanced memory problems, including dementia and Alzheimer’s; Vivid Living is a step below for residents whose memory is diminished beyond normal aging. Women-only communities are also available in some cities. New Perspective Senior Living is a growing company that aims to serve 10,000 seniors by 2025.

Life at New Perspective Senior Living centers on aging successfully. Communities are designed with 40 to 45 percent of common space to achieve the 4 Pillars of Living Life on Purpose.

  1. Physical activity: Communities offer programs to keep seniors moving, such as yoga, dance, warm-water pool swimming and walking clubs.
  2. Mental stimulation: Seminars, art and music enrichment, and touch-screen memory stations encourage residents to stay mentally fit.
  3. Nutritional dining: Seniors receive three chef-prepared meals a day, and breakfast is made-to-order. Some communities have pubs pouring craft beers and cafes serving smoothies and Starbucks.
  4. Social interaction: Social activities include guest speakers, book clubs, billiards, art classes and day trips to museums and concerts.

New Perspective Senior Living was established in 1998 as a family-owned business. Todd Novaczyk serves as the founder and CEO. He is also on the Board of Directors of Argentum, the nation’s largest senior living association. Son Ryan Novaczyk is the current president and CFO.

Reviews, Ratings & Complaints

As a large organization with locations across four states, New Perspective Senior Living has received both positive and negative reviews. The company maintains an “A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau and has also been the recipient of a number of awards for quality, including a “Best of the Best” dining experience award from the Assisted Living Federation of America (now Argentum). In 2015, the Star Tribune named New Perspective Senior Living as one of the top workplaces in Minnesota. A number of New Perspective Senior Living communities have also been singled out as the best by smaller, regional papers.

While opinions will always vary from person to person, reviews show that, overall, residents and their families are happy with the array of activities available and the inviting atmosphere of the communities. On the negative side, reviews indicate that some locations are short-staffed or have poorly-trained staff. For this reason, both employees and families of residents have voiced concerns over the safety of seniors residing in assisted living and memory care communities. Falls and medication problems are common themes in these complaints.

As ratings can vary greatly across the different communities, it is important to look closely at reviews for your desired location. To help inform your decision, we provide a complete database of unique reviews for all New Perspective Senior Living communities.
