Donna Hicks has an intimate knowledge of what it means to age. As a former adult protective services case manager, she experienced the struggles seniors face first-hand. Struggles like health issues, neglect and abuse, and scams targeting the elderly — these strengthened her resolve to help seniors and their loved ones. Today, Donna serves on our expert panel where she researches and writes about senior health and care.
Like all of our experts, Donna brings a wealth of experience to our team. She’s an award-winning journalist, with a first-place prize in citizen journalism awarded by the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting. She writes on a range of topics. But she’s most passionate about educating seniors and caregivers on Medicare, Medicaid, and VA benefits. With a compassionate approach to her research and writing, Donna upholds our soaring standards for accuracy and honesty.
Donna earned her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with minors in History and Political Science. In her free time, you’ll find her traveling and enjoying music, dance, art, and comedy. She also houses an impressive library with over 300 books — some of which are rare first editions dating back to the 19th century.
