Like any big city, Arlington has its share of cultural attractions. The Arlington Symphony, Arlington Good Times Chorus, Arlington Museum of Art, Frontier Gallery, and the Levitt Pavilion hosts music, dance and other performing arts. Theater Arlington is one of the largest community theaters in the country and has theater classes for children and adults. UT Arlington also has a number of attractions including the Planetarium with its state-of-the –art projection system that shows anything from black holes to travels through human body. And check out the school’s Department of Theater Arts for performances. Step back in time to the days of speak easies and gambling at the Top O’ Hill Terrace, a collection of historic buildings that once housed a brothel, casino and restaurant.

If you’re a sports fan, Arlington is a nice spot to be in. It’s the home of the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. The University of Texas at Arlington fields a number of teams. And we’ll even throw bowling in here. Check out the International Bowling Campus, home of the U.S. Bowling Congress, International Bowling Museum, and the International Bowling Hall of Fame.

Compared to many big U.S. cities, Arlington is relatively affordable. The overall cost of living is 4% below the national average. Retirement income in Texas is not taxed, and there is no state income tax. Arlington senior living is a mixture. For example, a one-bedroom in an assisted living facility averages $3,700 a month (the national average is $3,260), according to a Genworth Financial survey on long-term care.
