Since it would take a book to list all of Columbus’ attractions and things to do, we’ll give you a small sample. In the Arena District, you’ll find restaurants and a chance to catch the NHL’s Blue Jackets or Arena Football’s Destroyers. Stroll the Short North Arts District and its many galleries and eateries. Take in the Columbus Symphony, Opera Columbus and the Columbus Jazz Orchestra, led by Byron Stripling, former lead trumpet of the Count Basie Orchestra.
The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium attracts 2.5 million yearly visitors from around the world. It features gardens, wildlife habitats and picnic areas.
Sports fans have their pick of top-notch teams and events. Major League Soccer’s Columbus Crew is the first team to build a soccer-specific stadium in the country. The Ohio State University has 36 varsity teams. There’s PGA’s Memorial Tournament at the beautiful Muirfield Village Golf Club, a course designed by Jack Nicklaus. The Arnold Sports Festival plays host to 37 events and 17,000 athletes every year.
