Tampa (FL) Senior Living Communities
Not only is Tampa a highly affordable big city, it’s also a city full of senior living choices. We have hundreds of choices for you to choose from whether you’re looking for assisted living, independent living, a nursing home or memory care.
The overall cost of living in Tampa is 8% below the national average. As a Florida resident, you won’t pay taxes on any of your retirement income. And if you work, there is no state income tax. With Tampa senior living options, the picture only gets brighter. A one-bedroom in an assisted living facility averages just $2,650 a month (the national average is $3,261), according to a Genworth Financial survey. A private room in a nursing home averages $235 a day, while a semi-private averages $212.
Like any big city, Tampa has its share of cultural attractions. For performing arts, there’s the Straz Center, Tampa Theater, Gorilla Theater, Stageworks Theater and Spanish Lyric Theater. There’s also the Florida Orchestra, Opera Tampa and the Tampa Bay Symphony.
Step back in time at the Tampa Bay History Center. Here you can see Seminole jewelry, walk through a 1920s cigar store, and experience a Florida cattle drive. At the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI), you can experience the sights and sounds of an IMAX Dome Theater—the only one in the state. And you learn about the science of natural disasters at the Disasterville exhibit.
You’ll enjoy strolling Ybor City, the old Tampa neighborhood founded by cigar manufacturers. Must-see attractions are the Cigar Museum, Ybor City Museum State Park and the TECO Line Streetcar Museum.
