Miami (FL) Senior Living Communities

In between the Everglades and the Atlantic sits the multi-cultural city of Miami. It’s a city brimming with sunshine, attractions and outdoor activities. Before you search from the hundreds of Miami senior living options on our site, see what else the “Magic City” has to offer.

Aside from its many beautiful beaches, the Miami area is home to other equally impressive outdoor attractions. The 1.5 million-acre Everglades National Park is home to 156 miles of canoe and nature trails and some endangered animals such as the Manatee, panther and American Crocodile. At Biscayne National Park, you can snorkel, swim or take a glass-bottom boat tour of this area that was once home to pirates. The Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Departmentmaintains 263 parks on 12,848 acres of land consisting of nature preserves, senior programs, educational centers, arts and culture programs, beaches, campgrounds, pools and even the Miami Metro Zoo. One of its jewels is the 35-acre Fruit and Spice Park, a lush oasis of over 500 varieties of vegetables, fruits, nuts and other plant species.

Miami’s many arts venues include the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, Coconut Grove Playhouse, Jackie Gleason Theater, New World Center and Ring Theaters. Performace groups include the Florida Grand Opera, Miami City Ballet and Miami Conservatory among others. And be sure to check out the many diverse museums including the Miami Science Museum, Miami Art Museum, Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, Jewish Museum of Florida, Bass Museum and the Frost Art Museum.

Though Miami’s overall cost of living is 8% above the national average, Florida does not tax retirement income. And one Miami senior living option is very reasonable: a one-bedroom in an assisted living facility averages just $2,250 a month (the national average is $3,250), according to Genworth Financial’s survey on long-term care. And a private room in a nursing home averages $265 a day.
