Santa Ana (CA) Senior Living Communities

Before you start your search for Santa Ana senior living options, see what else this Orange County city has to offer.

Among the cultural attractions of Santa Ana are the Bowers Museum, Heritage Museum of Orange County, Galaxy Theater and Santiago Art District. The Discovery Science Center features over 100 hands-on exhibits with themed areas from Air and Space to the Quake Zone.

Deep in the urban jungle of Orange County is the Santa Ana Zoo. The newest exhibit is a re-creation of South America’s Pampas Grasslands and its inhabitants: Anteaters, Guanacos and Rheas. The Colors of the Amazon aviary features scarlet ibis, white-bellied caique, and many more rare birds.

The city’s Parks and Recreation department operates 17 recreation buildings, 5 swimming pools, 41 parks and 11 bicycle trails. Its two senior centers offer a number of activities such as arts and crafts, bingo, dances, computer classes, legal aid, book clubs, wellness classes and excursions to places such as the Orange County Fair, Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, Getty Museum, and the Aquarium of the Pacific.

If you’re currently living in California, this won’t come as a shock. If not, you may be in for sticker shock. Santa Ana’s overall cost of living is 34% higher than the national average, which to be fair, is a good deal lower than other cities in the state. Here is how some Santa Ana senior living options break down: a one-bedroom in an assisted living facility averages $3,725 a month, according to a Genworth Financial survey on long-term care. A private room in a nursing home averages $274 a day, while a semi-private averages $226 a day.
