The City of Sacramento runs a 50+ Wellness Program, hosting a variety of classes at community centers throughout the city. Classes include Tai Chi, yoga, stretching, strength training, and the ancient art of Chi Gong. In addition, every May there is a Senior Adventure Camp held at Eldorado National Forest. Activities include hikes, nature walks, cycling, arts and crafts and camp socials.

By California standards, Sacramento is not expensive. For example, the overall cost of living is 16% above the national average. Here are some examples of Sacramento senior living costs: a one-bedroom in an assisted living facility averages $3,500 a month, according to a Genworth Financial survey on long-term care. A private room in a nursing home averages $260 a day, while a semi-private averages $225 a day.
